Honoring Heroes: Optimum’s Commitment to Veterans
Honoring Heroes: Optimum’s Commitment to Veterans
Optimum, the provider of advanced internet, mobile, TV, and phone services, is proud to honor and support our veterans in meaningful ways this Veterans Day. Veterans Day is a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless men and women in service to our nation. From our hundreds of veteran employees and military family members to those in our communities -we believe in celebrating the valor and dedication of our veterans not just on this significant day, but every day.
Partnership with the HISTORY Channel
Optimum is proud to partner with the HISTORY Channel to bring the “Take a Vet to School Day” program to schools across its footprint, which encourages schools to connect veterans with students to hear stories of service and learn more about Veterans Day. During the celebratory and commemorative day, HISTORY provides lesson plans and activities for schools to educate students and shed light on the incredible feats of our military heroes. By partnering with the HISTORY Channel, Optimum is ensuring that the stories of our veterans reach the next generation of leaders and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of their service.
Optimum’s Flag Replacement Program
To preserve pride in the American flag, Optimum continues to work to replace faded, tattered, or ripped flags outside of homes and businesses across its footprint at no cost. While out on their daily routes, local Optimum employees are on the lookout for American flags that need replacing and work directly with property and business owners to provide a new flag – free of charge, whether they are an Optimum customer or not. This employee-led program often leads to more than just a new flag. For some, like one widow who was surprised and thrilled to have her flag replaced, it’s a moment to remember loved ones who served and paid the ultimate sacrifice.
- Optimum employees have replaced dozens of flags in communities from Norwalk, Connecticut to Cabot, Arkansas, and St. Joseph, Missouri, supporting local residents, schools, small businesses, city landmarks, and more. This Veterans Day, Optimum will replace 35 flags at Wellcome Middle School in Greenville, North Carolina and installing two larger flags outside the school, with Optimum employees across our footprint continuing to engage with their local communities to replace even more flags.
Special Coverage for News Viewers
News 12, the preeminent hyperlocal news source across the tri-state area, will be covering local news and events to bring veteran stories to the forefront in honor of Veterans Day. This special coverage not only informs but also engages our viewers, encouraging them to participate in local Veterans Day activities and support our veteran community.
Steps4Vets Employee Wellness Challenge
At Optimum, we understand the importance of supporting our veteran employees in their professional and personal lives. The annual Steps4Vets initiative is an employee-focused challenge that invites employees to pledge to get active in support of veterans, including walking, running, biking, hiking, or more. On behalf of each employee that commits to getting active, the company will donate $10 (up to a maximum of $5,000) to the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW) Unmet Needs program, which supports veterans and families facing financial difficulties.
